Birdsong

I knew that the forecast would be snow, but I really wasn't expecting to wake to this, not in April. I really should be reorganizing my Office, so I decided to put on the radio & while I was at it I re-scanned the stations and I was intrigued to find Birdsong. A temporary station in the place of Oneword, which is nothing but a 20 minute loop of birdsong recorded in a garden in Wiltshire.

It is so simple, but completely restful; crows, pigeons and all manner of other birds. You can hear the occasional plane and a faint background of cars, even a horse snorting. I don't think I'd want it on all day but it seems to be a surefire way to lift the spirits on a dull day like today.

I googled it and found that the station is gaining a lot of interest. So much so that people are campaigning for it to be permanent station. Someone would have to pay for it, and it wouldn't be the same if it was interspersed with adverts, the only other option would be for the Beeb to have it, the all the attendant outcry about waste of license fee money. I guess I'll just have to enjoy it's bucolic charm while it lasts!
